Genya – Sorry, no six degrees of Kevin Becon here.

Wesleyann – Forget about letting crazy teenagers out of the house being cause of concern. Letting working mom’s out of the house on a trip could possibly be worse! After a full spring season, Genya and I packed out bags, boarded Southwest Airlines {on their 39th birthday mind you that included free drink…at 7:30AM}, Ft. Lauderdale bound!

Not only may Rachel and Dave’s wedding be the highlight wedding of the year, but Genya and I had our yearly girl’s trip! No sitting in comfy hotel beds, eating cupcakes and watching chick flicks for us this time.

Genya – don’t doubt we didn’t indulge in the Ritz Carlton’s cheese platters and unending plethora of chocolates! When we realized that the sweet man that turned down our pillows left treats too- we quickly became friends. After coming out of our food comas it was time to put on our big girl shoes and head to Las Olas. Our toesis were itching to hit the dance floor and just about the time Jessi’s girl came on the shopping cart was in full swing.

Wesleyann – Genya and I tend to have our most meaningful chats about life and business endeavors over dinners. That dinner in Las Olas over pizza and wine was no different! Our longest topic was over how lucky and blessed we are to have the familes we have…and that no one was allowed to have anymore babies anytime soon because we had big business plans. Well everyone, I’m presuming God was up above getting a laugh of his own, for His power is obviously greater than the “pill.” Because little did anyone know, I was already 4 weeks pregnant! So yes, ladies and gentlemen, another VUE chick will be hatching another little chickadee due Valentines Day! Have no fear brides, God knew what he was doing in giving me a due date during the slow season and giving Genya and I wonderful husbands who don’t mind daddy duty weekends with the minis!

So after our first night of dinner and dancing, we were pumped to say the least for Rachel and Dave’s wedding the following day!

Genya: This was a weekend of many firsts- one of them being the chance to work with the event planning company Event Joliee , who just happens to be headed up by my long time BFF. Heather and I’s mischiovios friendship began in middle school. Both married with mini’s now we look back on the days of sneaking out, toleit papering yards, and bridge jumping, and are relived we made it in one piece. Besides our undying LOVE for rice crispy treats we both adore weddings, which is how we ended up with Rachel and Dave!

Their wedding was like a redbull laced martini- sophisticated, energizing, and utterly intoxicating{fugitively not literally- the vue chicks didn’t not partake in boozing during work hours!!} The type of event you dream to be at every Saturday!

Genya – I saw Jesus for for the first time in the back seat of a cab o the Hatian drivre’s phone. No really- not sure what prompted it but I was looking though his cell phone pics as we counseled him on his relationship problems. Low and behold after several images of his kids a fuzzy vision popped up and I inquired, “who’s this” – he proclaimed in in astonishment- ” DAT’S JESUS!”.

Wesleyann – Nevertheless, this was a weekend and a wedding that will forever go down in the books to remember!! Or at least these types of weekends have been put hold until Valentines Day.

September has arrived and decided to finally bring blue skies and sunshine with it! I know, crazy thought…blue skies and sunshine…in the Sunshine state! However, this summer has seriously been nothing but monsoon weather. Quite frankly I was over it! If I liked rain, I would have moved to Seattle…where the rain and coffee are abundant! Speaking of coffee….September also brought with it, Pumpkin Spice Lattes and Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins at Starbucks…MMMMM! Those two things are enough to make me miss my Starbucks Barista College days!

Back in June…forever ago I know, Danielle and Andrew’s wedding was welcomed in the ever so desired blue skies! On the down side, the ying to my yang, the jelly to my peanut butter…aka Genya…was sick in bed after spending the night before in the ER hooked up to IVs. Having been put on strict order that she was in no way able to shoot….it meant for the first time we had to split.

Still to this day, I am overwhelmed at 1.)the power of twitter and 2.) how unbelievably blessed we are with such close wonderful photographer friends all along the Gulf Coast! After sending out an S.O.S. via twitter, with in a matter on minutes, my phone was ringing off the hook with help from Tallahassee all the way to Pensacola! It was a true answer to prayer! Our sweet friend Leslie Roark filled the spot! Talk about causing name confusion…Leslie and Wesleyann {and everyone wants to always call me Leslie…for fear they misheard me and don’t want to call me by a boys name}!

I adore all our brides, however when we arrived and saw Danielle, she was the sweetest, most precious soul! Not concerned about anything else but wanting to know how Genya was doing…..on her wedding day! Her laid back attitude and joy brightened my spirits and I loved every minute with her and Andrew!

I think the only time I saw even a tiny hint of concern in Danielle’s eyes was when I decided to go crawling in a flower bush and came out sneezing uncontrollably and in hives! I think I had fear in my eyes as well….underneath all the welts! I was sneezing so much, no one could even get a “bless you” in. Thankfully one of the bridesmaids was a nurse and had benadryl!

Looking back, Genya and I learned a few things from that wedding weekend:

1.) If you’ve had a temperature of 103 for more than two days, go to the doctor…you’re not invincible and chicken noodle soup won’t do the trick {if it did, Genya would’ve been out of luck anyways…she’s a vegetarian}

2.) if you have allergies, don’t go crawling in flower bushes…and if you do, you better hope one of the bridesmaids is a nurse!

3.) we have the most reliable, dear and selfless group of friends…except when it comes to shopping cart races because then, it all gets pushed aside and it’s game on!

4.) we have the best brides…..ever!

VUE has gotten a face lift! The Dr. said it went incredibly well and the recovery time should be minimal. We think the results are fabulous and feel at least 10 years younger. With the only exception being that our laugh lines have become enormous!

No really- in these smoldering summer months we’ve been hard at work. For over a year now we’ve been wanted to spruce up our web appearance and have finally gotten a chance to complete our plans! First and foremost we had the chance to work with the fabulous folks over at Spilled Milk Designs on our new wedding website. Thanks to their patience and enthusiasm we have storefront that really reflects our quarky style! Another ambitious move was for us to create a family website! We shoot tons of weddings but – yes-sir-e-bob- we shoot tons of families n’ kiddos too! After having a blast with their engagement session, Stacy and Chris’s wedding was one we were looking forward to!! Not only did we adore the couple but we also were looking forward to shooting at a venue that was new for us, Bentley’s on the Bay. With a precious and infectious couple, a new venue…and pink all around…we were all smiles, regardless of the black clouds that decided to join! By the end of the night, Chris, his mask and snorkel had every one tickled pick and bent over!

Who doesn’t love an sweet, little, old grandma?! Apparently, Genya is so infatuated that she’s demanding us dress up as “old birds” {no longer chicks} on Friday for a “promotional photo shoot. I’m afraid she’s taking this admiration a little too far, hence my grave concern for her mental stability….the chicken has flown the coop!

Megan and Jonny’s wedding may have been where it all began! Megan and Jonny were as sweet as they come, and Megan’s grandma was no different…the apple doesn’t fall from the tree, eh? Still to this day, we giggle as how precious grandma was….and the image where she is being escorted by the sherif. No Grandma was not arrested.

Like I have said before…people from New Orleans know how to have a good time!! Even grandma has her dancing shoes on!

It might be a true fact to state that Florida’s weather is more unpredictable and fickle than a hormonal pregnant woman. Lucky for Jennifer and Chris, their wedding day was covered since everything took place indoors. However, when you come to the Gulf Coast, you can’t leave without a shot on the beach. Thankfully before the wedding we were able to make it down the the beach….which, good grief, the beach had more people on it than during Spring Break! After the wedding, it’s a good thing Genya is quick on her feet {literally and figuratively} and is a sweet talker…or else Chris and Jennifer may not have had the ever coveted shots! We’re just glad no one was arrested on grounds of trespassing!! Jennifer and Chris were all smiles the entire day and thankfully up for gate hopping!

Who doesn’t love a little glitz and glam(…well perhaps aside from the majority of the male population)?!! For those who do, Ashley and Alex’s wedding truly satisfied! The fun little details had us captivated…from the pink birdcage veil, pink diamond ring, the broach and rosette bouquets, the thumb prints of guests, the photobooth with family photo heirlooms, the hilariously entertaining couple’s dance, to even the details on the cake and topper (seriously look at this cake….everything on the cake resembles the wedding day!)…..it was all amazing!! Shelby Peaden and her team were beyond fantastic! Most fun of all…Ashley and Alex’s exuberant and lively personalities!! We seriously went home that evening with smiles on our faces!!

When you were little did you ever play telephone? Maybe it’s because we’re girls- or it’s just one of those sparkling {my husband might disagree} personality traits…but we have a gift for gab. At this point in our lives we’re logged more chatting hours than a operator at a BP-complaint center!

Anyhow- we love to talk and find the old game of telephone quite endearing…hence the use of it during Kate and Will’s engagment session!! The duo humored us as we knocked around 30-A one evening. From bike riding to flower filled piggy back rides- it was refreshing!! Their Rosemary Beach wedding is just around the corner and we can’t wait for round two in September!

Every now and then, there are things that are completely out of your control no matter what….a concept that is hard for me to remember at times! About a month ago, Genya was so sick, she ended up in the ER. While Genya was in the ER, I packed up the gear and headed out to 30A for Sally and Raley’s engagement session. Unpredictable times such as these, make us very thankful there are 2 of us!!

Even though it wasn’t the same without Genya, Sally, Raley and I had a fun time amongst the tea cups, bicycles, and cupcakes! One thing we clearly could have done without was the heat and bugs that seriously left welts on my arms and legs for weeks….those are the 2 major issues I have with the South!

As quickly as time is flying by, Sally and Raley’s wedding in Montgomery this coming March is around the corner and we can’t wait!
